Eight test plots were created on a Tifeagle bermudagrass green built to USGA specifications, using a root zone mix that contained 90/10 sand/peat. Maxand was incorporated into four of the plots to provide 20% Maxand to a 4-inch depth, with the other four plots serving as untreated controls. The grow-in and maintenance programs were typical for ultradwarf greens.  Results show that enhanced levels of critical nutrients are retained in the root zone by Maxand’s unique polymer chemistry.

The benefits of increasing nutrient holding capacity are accelerated grow-in of new or renovated greens, rapid recovery from routine maintenance and more efficient use of valuable nutrient inputs.
